Stephanie buried her head in her pillow, ignoring the persistent knocking at the front door. She knew who it was: her boyfriend, Alex. She had watched from the window as his car pulled up, but she didn't want to talk to him. She had already given him her excuses. Now she just wanted to be left alone.
But the knocking kept coming. She wished her Dad were home to send Alex away, but he was out of town on business-- she was on her own tonight.
